Formula Offroad

How it started
Formula Offroad is a sport that was invented in Iceland. In hope to bring in more money for the Icelandic rescue teams, the teams started to show their 4 wd cars in action in the Icelandic hills. It soon became more and more of a competition between the teams, and soon the teams where building specialy made vehicles for just this purpose. The motorsport Formula Offroad was born.

Sweden introduktion
In 1990 the Icelandic drivers came to sweden to show their sport. Many Swedish offroaders found Formula Offroad to be most interesting, and they started to build their own cars. Since then there has been annualy Formula Offroad competitions in Sweden.

Classes
In Sweden, Norway and Denmark there is two different classes. Modified and Unlimited. In Modified, the cars could have paddletires and must have a body from a serial manufactured car. In that class they are alowed to use NO2. In the class Unlimited, the drivers can build their cars nearly anyway they want it. They use wide tires with buckets on, to get a nice grip in the hills. The engine can be built in many different ways, and many use NO2 for a extra boost of power.

The Future
Formula Offroad is growing fast in the Nordic countrys. Due to the action and roaring engines, the sport has become very popular with the spectators. More and more cars are built and more and more countrys arrange competitions.

Regulations
Formula Offroad is a sport with high set safety regulations. The competitions are held under supervision of the different countrys motorsport assosiations. When a competition is held there is many regulations considering the environment.
